The homeowners live on a well traveled street with many people walking the neighborhood.

The requirements: a seating area, gardens with many native perennials & shrubs, a fish pond for the grandchildren, raised beds for vegetables, low maintenance, area for recycling biodegradable material and garbage cans.

They have a beautiful up close view of this well traveled area from their home.  Native plantings for winter color include: Winterberry adds some height, red berries in winter for color & birds, a low growing Witch Hazel for February blooms of yellows and oranges.

 

Additional native plant material was used to complete the gardens succession of bloom for year round color.
